Especially GREAT for pilots and skydivers: A fly-in community without the high price! Arthur Dunn Airport, best known locally as the skydiving airport, is 3 blocks away -- literally just a stroll through the neighborhood to get there. However, since it is a low-traffic airport and the flight pattern is away from neighborhood, you don't notice any noise. Several skydivers own townhouses among the 40 townhouse units.

Playalinda is known for two things: some of the best breaks in Brevard County and the its "hush hush" nude beach at the extreme end of the beach -- past the parking areas.
Especially GREAT for nature lovers: Drive 2 or 3 miles and you are into the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, to enjoy nature and birdwatch. The Sanctuary is a "gateway site" of the Great Florida Birding Trail. Each year, the Sanctuary has "sea turtle watching tours". Three miles farther and you will be at the Canaveral National Seashore (Playalinda Beach). The entire route (and beach) are unadulterated nature. The beach has no vendors -- only parking spaces, restrooms, and walkways to the shore. As you approach the beach, look south and you will see the NASA launch pad; if you look soon, you might catch a glimpse of the last Space Shuttles on the launch pad...quite a site.
You can ride your bike (~1 mile) to the Marina and watch manatees and dolphins! About 7 miles away is manatee protection area with dock for excellent manatee viewing.
